National Assembly Minority Whip Junet Mohamed (above) has claimed that Deputy President William Ruto and his allies are opposed to the contents of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).
Junet, a close ally of opposition Chief Raila Odinga, also told the DP’s lieutenants that the BBI train had left the station and there is no looking back. He, however, said his Orange party would have wished for an executive prime minister.
He said he does not believe the DP and his ‘Tanga Tanga’ brigade fully support the BBI and that their body language and actions point to hoodwinking President Uhuru Kenyatta.

“The DP is not reading from the same script with President. I don’t believe the DP fully supports the BBI report. These are people who think that BBI is stopping Ruto from becoming the President in 2022,” said Junet.
In an exclusive interview last night with Point Blank, a KTN News programme, Junet fired salvo at the DP’s allies saying they were not barred from initiating a similar process like that of the BBI and should not lecture Kenyans on why Parliament is best placed to handle the process.
Junet argued that the release of the BBI heralds a new dawn of a national conversation as espoused in the report, adding that ODM is opposed to elevating the position of a National Assembly majority leader to a prime minister.
According to Junet, ‘Tanga Tanga’ MPs from Mount Kenya have been on a mission to scuttle Uhuru’s legacy of leaving a united and cohesive country.
He took a swipe at the recent meeting in Embu where Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri attended to take a position on the BBI.

While revisiting events of the launch of the BBI report last Wednesday, Junet further said some of DP’s allies lost their cool on his role as the day’s master of ceremonies.
He said the function was not a Jubilee function, adding that he had all the rights to preside over the function as the only politician who was at the door step at Harambee House during the ‘Handshake’ between Uhuru and Raila.
